The Vortex Competition is Canada's pre-eminent forum for emerging video game entrepreneurs and developers. At the November 3rd Boot Camp, they will have the opportunity to craft their business and technical skills through education sessions where internationally-renowned industry leaders will share their expertise and insights in the fields of game design, development & production, business, finance and marketing.

Competitors are invited to submit a pager synopsis about their concept or prototype by October 23 to be reviewed by a panel of experts for a chance to pitch the Competition jury on November 4 and 5, followed by an award gala. Four finalists, two from each category, will be selected to compete in the finals on November 5th in front of a stellar panel of industry leaders:

  • Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto
  • Kevin O’Leary, chairman of Gencap Funds and manager of the O'Leary Global Equity & Income Fund, and star of CBC’s hit TV show Dragon’s Den
  • Marc Saltzman, renowned technology journalist
  • Blake Lewin VP, Media & Entertainment Platforms for Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and Founder of GameTap, and also a Key Note speaker

Prizes include cash, mentoring and an opportunity for the winning digital media creation to be distributed and published through a variety of channels.
